Flashes of Gold, Hot Springs, Virginia
Painting Description
How strongly my early background in landscape painting shows in this rendition of a creek in Virginia. I don’t know its name. My interest in this snippet of country is very largely focused on the stone patterns that are displayed along the water’s edge. In each painting I am attracted to some feature that makes that subject worthwhile for me. The flash of gold reflected in the almost drained creek was the thing that first caught my eye, but as I worked along, I realized more potential in the rocks. It is not unusual for me to change my focus during a painting. As I see new potential, I observe the scene more deliberately.
