Painting Description

Just northwest of St. Jacobs at the point where the river’s edge road falls off down a hill towards Hawkesville, this traditional Mennonite farmhouse crouched closely beside the road. No doubt when this farm was built in the 1860’s the road was little more than a trail and the farm was positioned well back from the thoroughfare.
