Fairy Tale Chateau
Painting Description
One of our great joys is rambling, which in our case is driving around the countryside with no real destination, absorbing those pieces of landscape that present themselves. This chateau, which is still in use and unmarked, is just one of those surprises that so delights. This Belgian confection is by the standards of the Loire Valley really rather modest. This is a view from the highway and that was all that we got to see. A quick turn into a back street of the village brought us to the golf course but to no further views of this romantic home. Like all more major buildings, the various additions are obvious as each generation added its own contribution. I think that I see a bit of the Scottish Baronial style in it, but that is just my idea and part of the architectural game that I play.
