Ester
Painting Description
This lady belongs to the Old Order Mennonite group. This is the largest conservative Mennonite group in the region. She is wearing a bonnet, the style of which has not changed since the late eighteen hundreds. Note how much it is like the old style bonnet worn by the Salvation Army ladies. Her dress is very plain and has a cape both front and back.
