Erbsville Woods
Painting Description
Sunlight crashing through a woodlot in Erbsville near Waterloo presents a dramatic subject.
Although this woods is on a country road that I used to drive to get to Edna Staebler’s cottage, it really owes little to location and much to the theatrical light effect. I have used a romantic, loosely handled approach by giving little weight to the foreground and saving the contrasts for the background splash of light.
