Painting Description

This creek is a setting, with changes, that I have used several times. Recognizing the possibilities of a piece of scenery is part of what I do. In this early work, I took the subject pretty well as it was while thirty years later I would have altered the landscape, probably creating an opening in the trees to let the eye journey further away. I really never know what I will do with a subject until I am well into it.
