Down by the River
Painting Description
Shortly after we were married in 1966, we bought wooden chairs from a man whose view is this scene. The Conestogo River winds from Hawkesville through this peaceful countryside on its way to St. Jacobs. This stretch of the river is a favourite fishing area for the Mennonite kids who live nearby. I often talk with these kids as I do drives through Mennonite Country.
