Debris from High Spring Water, Conestogo

Painting Description

I find it amazing how much there is to see and enjoy in the landscape, but that appreciation only begins once a person walks into the scene. This plein air painting near the confluence of the Grand and Conestogo Rivers focuses on the donation made by flood waters earlier in the spring. The fast-moving water not only deposits debris but also sculpts the bank and any building that it reaches. For that reason, many of our pioneer buildings no longer stand, since they were built too close to the river’s edge. It should be noted too that the path of the river changes over the years, claiming new lands for itself and surrendering others.
