Painting Description

Slashes of sunlight create a pattern across a country laneway near Crosshill in this autumnal scene.

I was attracted to the patterns of sunlight in this warmly coloured fall landscape. As I drive around the countryside I seek out dramatically lit pieces of landscape. I took these photos several years before I actually painted this piece. I work from several photos at once combining elements, sometimes small, into the tableau. I make the subject the way that I want it to be, not exactly as it actually is.
