Covered Buggy (Dachwegle)
Painting Description
I had the unusually good fortune to ride with Amos Bowman in a covered buggy just like this, as he delivered the rural mail in the St. Jacobs area. It is impossible to fully describe the cozy feeling of being inside this small room, moving leisurely through the landscape, the only sounds, the clop of the horse’s hooves and the soft creaking of the dachwegle.
