Country Intersection
Painting Description
Just off the highway that runs between Hawkesville and Linwood there is a one-room Mennonite parochial school. I spend a good deal of time in this area and this painting shows the approach in this quiet part of Mennonite country. Many horses that once pulled racing sulkies end up providing power for a Mennonite buggy. The market for a horse that was just a bit too slow for the track is somewhat limited. That’s a real benefit for the Mennonites.
