Cliff’s Edge

Painting Description

Before we boarded our Holland America ship in Alaska, we enjoyed a trip into one of the many ocean inlets. Our small craft carried only forty people and earned its keep ferrying tourists to the areas where the whales were located. The display that the whales presented was dramatic, but so was the scenery surrounding the sound. I was put in mind of my only visit to Newfoundland in 1989 and the great slabs of rock that rose dripping from the ocean. Not unlike the huge whales.
