Citadelle, Blaye, France
Painting Description
This massive ancient fortress on the banks of the Gironde River very near Bordeaux, presents spectacular views.
We visited the UNESCO World Heritage site on a river cruise in this region known for its wine. Ironically although in the mid-1300s when the French were at war with the British, this fort was not used against the British as the British were such good customers of the wine yards in this region.
