Church Cleaning Day
Painting Description
Twice a year on the Wednesday before communion, the little white frame church is scrubbed. The unvarnished benches are taken outside and the crew, mainly young women, washes everything. Although this is a major task, many hands make light work. This is also another occasion for social activity. My friend, Nancy, herself an Old Order Mennonite, alerted me to this activity.
