Painting Description
Standing half-hidden on the bank of the Grand River near Brantford, Chiefswood was built by the father of poetess Pauline Johnson. Her father was a Mohawk chief and this national site is still maintained by the Six Nations Confederacy. It is a pretty, unimposing building, unfortunately not very well signed from the highway which runs 200 yards from its back door.
