The Mennonite farmyard is a small, personal world that outsiders seldom get to experience. The only entry into this world is gained by buying produce or farm-produced goods—an excuse to be within these confines. Although these borders are safe, they are also demanding. Rules must be obeyed. The farm lane is a channel to another world.
