Cattle Grid
Painting Description
This ink and watercolour painting was inspired by the foothill country of British Columbia. Although a crop is being harvested from this field, the cattle grid indicates that this land is often used to graze cattle. The cattle grid, or western gate as it is called, allows a vehicle to drive across but provides a barrier to livestock as the bars of the floor are round and do not allow an animal sure footing. Arrivals, particularly cattle, are easily frightened and do not wish to risk an unsure walkway.
