Painting Description

It is very easy when visiting a grand home or castle to be overwhelmed by the impressive structure, the fine furnishings and the history. I have often written about fine buildings that we visit on our frequent journeys to Britain. This painting however is not about the dazzling structure but about a quiet, easily overlooked bit of abandoned garden beside Castle Ayden, a fortified 13th century manor house in Northumberland.
