It is very easy to feel the sense of optimism as the crews head out into the woodlot. Perhaps the end of the winter is part of this up-feeling, but also the measurable aspect adds to the satisfaction of this task that extends over only several weeks each year. Mixed farming demands many new pieces of work each year, but most only last a short time.
