Painting Description

It seems to me that the barnyard surrounded by its many out-buildings really forms a village square. The stable for the pigs, the garage, the driving shed, the barn for the chickens, as well as the big barn form a separate world from the fields and house and country beyond. This space is private and visited only by the farmer and his family.
