Painting Description

I got the idea for this painting while I watched the work progress at Andy Hertford’s place west of Milverton. I only happened on this bee because I was collaborating with this Old Order Amish farmer. He provided text for the first book that I did—Mennonite Country. His house, which he shared with his aged sister, has no hydro or running water. All his furniture is unfinished except for one milk-painted cupboard. He is an interesting man leading a very simple life.
