Painting Description

This barn on the Isle of Orleans in the St. Lawrence River shows a distinctive French design and the flair for colour that I associate with Quebec.

I am attracted to the powerful use of colour in this Quebec barn. The design with the ramp up to the hay mow is usual for this part of the country. On the Isle of Orleans the river is almost always visible in the background as such gives a very strong sense of place.
