Painting Description
I spotted this young Amish fellow cultivating in a field near Millbank using a variety of draft horses.
There are many subtle signals in Amish and Mennonite culture that are not readily noticeable. In this instance the use of four differently coloured horses suggest a bit of a rag-tag operator. A successful farmer in either of these groups would have at least two matched horses. With the use of more tractors on the Mennonite farms, this rule of thumb is starting to break down somewhat.
