Painting Description
The flats bordering Conestogo River west of St. Jacobs provide me with a peaceful and pretty set of subjects. When I finished this painting I immediately thought of the work of Robert W. Wood, a California artist, so popular forty years ago.
Painted for the celebrations of the 200th Anniversary of the Schneiders coming to Waterloo County, I endeavoured to show the start of urbanization at this now downtown Kitchener site. See also Schneider House (1914).
