After Apple Picking
Painting Description
This is an obvious reference to the Robert Frost poem, although in this painting the work of apple storage is not yet done. The whole apple growing process has a special significance for me because I remember my grandfather, “Apple Noah”, working so hard with and being so proud of his orchard. In this painting, the apple grower is an Amish fellow near Millbank, Ontario. Note the beard and the bright green shirt. These are telltale signs of the Old Order Amish.
