Painting Description
We visited Acapulco as part of a cruise from Florida to California. This was our second visit to this tourist trap which had, we were surprised to see, become even better at separating the tourist from his money. Pretty as the beach was, its beauty diminished as we were bothered by the constant barrage of hawkers. For added pity appeal, some of the ambulatory merchants carried babies. This device was also used by beggars in Italy, although in Sienna there was no merchandize involved. Only the sailors on the beach repairing their boats gave any clue to life here before tourism.
