Two Back Lanes

Painting Description

This is a hilltop, spring-time view of a Mennonite barn.

This is a view that shows an unusual feature of this farm. I couldn’t see from my viewpoint why there would be two back lanes but I thought that they made an appealing design element. Each of my paintings is generated by an individual impulse. I often am not quite sure what draws me to a subject and my treatment varies a great deal. I am not concerned about the variety of tactics, I just let it happen.

Pieces under this category were painted during a very short period of time between 2014-2015 when Pete developed a new style inspired by aspects of the work of Nicolai Fechin.
