Painting Description

An English walled garden creates a micro-climate that allows plants to flourish in a protected environment. When I visit walled gardens such as Sissinghurst, Blickling Hall and Mottisfont Abbey, which I used in this painting, I too feel protected and cosseted. The atmosphere is so peaceful and private that the everyday distractions and noises just disappear.
