Painting Description

This painting is a very active design that shows the energy of this sugaring activity. The young men empty the smaller pails from the trees and leave their larger gathering pails along the trail for pick-up by the vat. It reminds me of how the dairy horses would follow the milkman along the street, keeping pace as he moved progressively through the neighbourhood. In this case, there is a man on the sleigh who empties the pails into the vat. The team is not totally on autopilot.
