Three Chimneys

Painting Description

This charming restaurant/pub is one of my favourite in Kent. It was originally a French establishment called Les Trois Chemins—the three roads— since it sits at the junction of three roads. The British, being the British, gave it the English pronunciation, as a cab driver told us. Hence, The Three Chimneys. Just down the road, not far from the beautiful garden at Sissinghurst, the pub treasures a head-wackingly low beam that has been retained but padded.
