Painting Description

This painting springs from a chance scene that I witnessed at a Mennonite parochial school. The girls clustering around the teacher are so typical and so sweet. I changed the location of the school choosing to use the one near Heidelburg. I even changed the colour of that school. All my paintings of this narrative, detailed type are compositions that I organize to present what I feel is the most effective image. These paintings are sparked by some visual event. I do not compose a painting from an idea, but rather start with an image.
