Painting Description

This lovely piece of stone sculpture stands in a corner by the west door of a small country church in Bishopstone, Herefordshire. I discovered this statue while checking out the neighbourhood near our rented converted flat, Cork and Bottle Barn. The lichen and the moss on this figure add to the aged feeling of this easily overlooked gem. Small English churches contain some of the most attractive bits of sculpture and painting.
