Rock Cliff, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland

Painting Description

Although this painting is actually sited on the south-east coast of Newfoundland, this scene would ring a bell with anybody who has spent time on Gaspe or parts of Nova Scotia. The very steep cliffs also put me in mind of Tintagel in England.

Although the water here is cold, the rocky shore along the bay also reminds me of some of the cliffs that line Highway #1 in California. To be sure, the water in the western state is much warmer but the incessant quality of the waves on the shore is quite similar.
