Quality Care (Sketch for)
Painting Description
This sketch, when compared to the finished painting, Quality Care Image #0169, shows how ideas change. The start of a commission is always difficult as the commissioner, in this case a company that made animal pharmaceuticals, has not defined exactly what they want. Another difficulty is translating words into a visual statement.
I was able to use as reference material photos of a working vet that I had in my files. I never delete any photos from my files as I can’t tell when some factor will come into play. The family and cow also came out of my files as did parts of the farm background. I first started my photo files by cutting pictures out of magazines when I was only 12. I used to call these pictures my morg.
