Ploughing the Lane

Painting Description

As the Mennonites started to deal more with general society, they found it necessary to plough their lanes to allow trucks to deliver fuel/feed/equipment. Previously the horse-drawn sleighs slid easily over the snow-filled lanes. I smile as I drive past this farm because this view from 1981 has changed so dramatically. The farmhouse has been skinned with aluminum siding and two new large factories (shops) have been added to this David B. Martin farm near Linwood.
