Near Bryce Canyon

Painting Description

I set up my easel behind a motel not far from Bryce Canyon. I was interested to find that a number of people staying in the motel thought that I should be painting the canyon. Later on I did a sketch of the gold and orange cliffs of that huge gash in the earth. Strange isn”t it what motivates an artist to paint one view rather than another. It is not just the way a work is developed that speaks of an artist’s personality, but what he chooses to paint, even just how close he stands to the subject reveals an attitude.
