Morning at Carroll Creek

Painting Description

While all artists work differently, I prefer to use a piece like this to sort out the subject before I paint a larger more complicated work. Starting with a small panel, I can easily change the feeling of the view with just a few strokes while on a larger painting, not only is it difficult, but daunting, so the temptation is not to rearrange a passage. I would like to say that the larger version that follows this indicates that I did indeed solve my problems ahead of time, but that is not the case. I cannot stop myself from tweaking bits and pieces in the large rendition. See also Image # 2927 Mid-morning at Carroll Creek.
