Modern Vehicle

Painting Description

Until the year 2000, within the Old Order Mennonite group, only the aged and the clergy were allowed to drive dachwegles (covered wagons). These carriages were invariably two-person vehicles. Now anyone can drive one of these specialized vehicles, so multi-seated covered buggies are starting to appear. Perhaps they are the equivalent of the mini-van. Proof once again that things do change within even the most conservative groups.
