Painting Description

Paintings like this are often started for me by a glimpse of a combination of colours such as this light and dark team against the mellow red of the sugar shanty. The pails on the trees echo that red. The blanketed horses suggest that they have been waiting for the work to start. No steam from the sugar house means that the boil-off is not underway.
