Debris, Ragged Falls

Painting Description

My wife gets concerned when she sees me crawling over rocks and debris to photograph bits of exciting landscape on our travels. From slippery rocks on the Scottish east coast to rapids in Montana, I am desperate to gather information for future paintings. I often make sketches, such as this at Ragged Falls, as a way of sorting out just what pieces of a site I might like to use in an extended painting. These sketches tell me how to best organize several views at once.
