Dapple Grey

Painting Description

Because my family was in the dairy business in Kitchener-Waterloo, I was fortunate as a child to have close contact with those horses that pulled the milk wagons. My two brothers and I played in the barn that housed those sixteen horses. Among our favourites was Jerry, a kindly gray horse who looks suspiciously like the horse pictured here near the covered bridge at West Montrose. How often things that I see set ringing sympathetic vibrations from my childhood.
