Canary Wharf Construction

Painting Description

In 2008 we rented a modern flat in the wharf district of the east end of London, England. For many years we had promised ourselves a jaunt out to see this Canadian-originated new city that has risen from the old derelict wasteland east of central London. With so much to do in the city’s centre, we never had made that short light rail journey. Now, living close by, we had no excuse. The size of the development is mammoth, and still new buildings are being added to this financial centre which is draining the “city” (the financial district of old London) of its tenants. I was so excited to see the light breaking over the construction site.
