Badland Fishing Party, Rosedale, Alberta

Painting Description

This painting resulted from an across-Canada trip taken in 1989. I had never been to that part of Alberta before and really went to this area because of the Tyrrell Museum near Drumheller. The people fishing in the foreground were the only animation in this desert-like area. The Last Chance Saloon painting from that region shows more of the barely inhabited rocky/sandy landscape. Writing this note some ten years later after a visit to South Dakota, I am struck by the similarities of these two areas.
