Today the star of the show is Forsythia! She opened to rave reviews and a standing ovation. #diningroom #farmhouse #forsythia #fliwers #mycountryhome #homeandgarden #myperiodhomestyle

It’s all about the outdoors at this time of year... especially when things are significantly earlier than usual. Last year the magnolia bloomed the first week of May. #seasonalchanges #magnolia #gardens #homeandgarden #stonehouses #farmhouse

When I sit on the back porch this is one of my favourite views... especially when the magnolia is showing off and Mother Nature has decided to provide the perfect pink sky to match! I must admit... it took my breath away!! #barn #magnolia #mycountryhome #countryliving #homeandgarden #bhggardens #bhg #welivehere #pinksky #trees #bannockburn1878

The porch plants are having a dinner party and our window lettuce is taking the air... a beautiful Sunday was had by all. As for the productivity of the human inhabitants of #bannockburn1878 we did a lot of weeding and some planning for the garden expansions. Then we opened a bottle of wine and toasted the luxury of having open spaces. If you don’t have that luxury in your life right now and are feeling a bit penned in, I hope you get a bit of enjoyment sharing our property virtually... I know it’s not the same but for what it’s worth I love sharing it with you in my little squares.😘😘 #homeandgarden #hydrangea #ferns #gardens #barn #countryhome #countryliving #loveofcountryhouses #mycountryhome #oldtrees #trees #huroncounty

Happy Friday!!
We took the winter drapes down today so it’s officially not allowed to snow again!!
If you are curious, I’ll give you the background on the drapes... it’s something I get asked about fairly often probably because it isn’t something you see every day. We added them for a few reasons... privacy , aesthetic interest and practicality... it’s the original door and it’s draughty!!
One tip if you are considering doing this... we have hooks behind the drapes so I can drape the fabric behind them which gives me more options visually. Also, I leave the summer ones ( white Irish linen) up year round and add the heavy striped winter pair overtop using the same hooks for the cold season. #designtips #farmhouse #foyerdesign #whiteoak #frontdoor #countryhouse #doberman #bannockburn1878 #loveofcountryhouses #classicdesign #mycountryhome #vintage #countryhouseliving #cynthiaweberdesign

One of the questions I get asked most is “ what’s it like living and restoring a heritage home?”
The answer is layered...when you live in a historic home there are surprises. Some wonderful and some not so pleasant. It’s a process and an adventure. When it comes down to it... you find a way to marry “history” with “your story” and that brings unparalleled rewards.
So, here is my question of the day... Would you or have you lived in and loved an old home? And if so, what are the best and most challenging things you faced? #historichomes #history #oldhomelove #herritagehomes #stonehouses #countryhome #bannockburn1878 #mycountryhome #loveofcountryhouses #restoration #vintagestyle

Beau is absolutely thrilled the snow is gone! In point of fact, he feels that porch season should most definitely be embraced... and I’m certainly not going to argue with him!! #dachshund #doxie #puppy #minidoxie #miniaturedachshund #countryhome #barn #weekendvibes #bannockburn1878 #porchlife #sausagedog #spring
