Up, Up and Away

Painting Description

During Oktoberfest in 1987, I had the chance to ride/fly in a hot air balloon. The experience was both exciting and peaceful. Drifting along at a slow wind speed was relaxing and quite unlike flying in a plane. As we progressed north across the city along the path of the Grand River, I took photos and gathered ideas for paintings of the area by Kaufman’s Flats and Rim Park. The scene here shows preparation for take-off on a cool morning in Victoria Park in Kitchener.
