Invention

Painting Description

The David B. Martin group of Mennonites is an extremely conservative group. Their rules do not allow the use of tractors or self-propelled equipment in the fields. However, the use of computers, cell phones and faxes is acceptable. This somewhat difficult logic has bred much innovation in the invention and manufacture of new machines for farm and industry. This painting shows a team of horses, the old way, pulling a new invention that automatically cleans the sticky pails from the maple syrup harvest. Remember that each farmer could have six or eight hundred of these gummy buckets to clean each spring.
