Hydrangea at Cawdor Castle
Painting Description
Although this “castle” was mentioned by Shakepeare, it is now really a manor house not a defensive building. The gardens are extensive and beautifully maintained as tourism is a huge draw for this rather remote part of Scotland.

| Background Information | We arrived unscheduled at Invergordon after a difficult passage the night before in which there was a lot of damage to our cruise ship. We decided since we were there we would rent a car and drive to Cawdor Castle which was about an hour drive. Sometimes bad things turn into good things. |
