Freeport Bridge

Painting Description

While I was walking along the Grand River looking for subjects to paint, this romantic view emerged from the landscape. Although I took the photos on which I based this painting in 1989, it was not until 2008 that I decided to work up this misty piece. It is not unusual for me to use old pictures to construct a work. I think that this use of old materials extends my reach. Many times a re-visit to some old photographs suggests a totally different treatment than would have occurred to me at the time that I took the shots.
