Female Sugaring Crew

Painting Description

It is rare to find a female sugaring crew as this heavy work is traditionally the job of a man. However, sugaring is one of the few activities, outside of the garden, that draws Mennonite women from the house. In fact in some families it is considered an embarrassment for the men to have to rely on help from the women, as it suggests that the men are not quite up to their task.
