Elevator Ride

Painting Description

The kids riding on this bale elevator are clearly enjoying themselves as the contraption bumps out the lane. The use of bales shows that these Mennonites are not of the most conservative order. A more orthodox group would not bale the hay but move the crop to the barn in wagonloads of loose hay. In this painting I have employed a light shadowed effect on the foreground. I think that a shadow pattern enlivens an otherwise plain area.
